The Clicks Keyboard: Typing’s Throwback Revolution

Chunky, clicky, and unapologetically retro—meet the iPhone’s BlackBerry makeover

Let’s get one thing straight: The Clicks Keyboard is the tech equivalent of bringing a flip phone to a rave.

It’s bold, it’s nostalgic, and it’s unapologetically extra. For those of us who miss the satisfying click-clack of physical buttons, this thing is a godsend.

For everyone else? Well, it’s a quirky little experiment that’s equal parts genius and “why tho?”

What’s the Deal?

The Clicks Keyboard is a physical keyboard case for your iPhone. Yeah, you heard that right.

It snaps onto your sleek, touchscreen-only device and turns it into a BlackBerry throwback.

As of now, it's only available for the iPhone 14, 15 and 16.

Typing on glass not cutting it for you? Clicks says, “Hold my mechanical keys.” It’s like giving your iPhone a mullet—business in the front, party in the back.

Is that a good thing? For some people, sure.

If you’re the kind of person who writes novels in your Notes app or fires off emails like a CEO on espresso, this thing is powerful.

The tactile feedback is a dream for fast typists, and the dedicated shortcut keys (yes, shortcut keys!) are a productivity nerd’s wet dream.

"The best mobile keyboard yet, ergonomically designed to help you type faster, longer and more accurately." — Clicks

Plus, it’s a conversation starter.

Pull this bad boy out at a coffee shop, and you’ll either get curious stares or a high-five from a fellow ’00s keyboard enthusiast.

It is wild from a design perspective, and we dig it on that level at the very least.

"Mia, what if there's a power cut in the coffee shop? What then?"

Backlit baby. Because typing in the dark is a vibe.

The Clicks Keyboard’s brand-new key shape is a "game-changer"—spacious, comfy, and perfect for marathon typing sessions, whether you’re drafting novels, editing spreadsheets, or crafting content.

So the copy on their website reads, though we do suspect writing a novel might be a bit of a stretch.

They continue, "Say goodbye to flat keys; these contoured beauties add ergonomic separation, making every press feel intentional and effortless."

Unfortunately, however...

But let’s not sugarcoat it—this keyboard is frustrating. It’s bulky, it’s heavy, and it transforms your phone from sleek to the Scottish word for excrement.

Good luck fitting it in your jeans. And don’t even get me started on the learning curve. If you’ve been swiping and tapping for the last decade, retraining your brain to use physical keys might feel like trying to write with your non-dominant hand.

Oh, and forget about using it one-handed. This is a two-handed commitment, folks.

The Clicks Keyboard isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. It’s for the typists, the nostalgics, and the “I just want to feel something again” crowd.

It’s a statement piece, a rebellion against the touchscreen tyranny.

Is it practical? Debatable. Is it cool? Absolutely. Would I use it every day? Probably not. But would I secretly admire anyone who does? 100%.

At the end of the day, it's a bit of daft fun. A novelty. Surely it's worth the price of admission for that alone?

So, if you’re ready to turn heads and reclaim the joy of clickety-clack, give The Clicks Keyboard a shot.

Just don’t blame me when you can’t fit it in your pocket.
