Canva Listens: No Price Increase for Teams After All
Canva does a 180, meaning no planned price increases for teams subscribers
Well, well, well - can we really say we expected Canva to reverse their controversial pricing decision?:
That's right, after multiple people and media outlets reported on the price increase, Canva have confirmed no price hike for Canva Teams.
Heck yeah!
"We listened carefully to the feedback we received about these changes, and we’ve decided not to change your Canva Teams plan pricing. No action is needed on your part. Earlier this year, Canva announced plans to raise prices for teams," said a Canva representative.
As for the price increase, it of course made sense to Canva, who thought it could be justified by their increasing feature list, spearheaded by AI.
But for users to had multiple seats within their team? Not so much. So much so that alternatives were quickly bandied about.
Canva's justification wasn't in like with core user usage and in no uncertain terms, customers - especially on Reddit - trashed yet another company using AI for poor decision making.
Users were understandably disappointed. They had been enjoying early, lower prices. And the prospect of paying more wasn’t appealing nor justified.
But Canva listened.
Feedback from users has led to a reversal, meaning for now at least, they have decided to scrap the planned price increase.
Perhaps current users are grandfathered in, which is great for existing teams on a budget.
What that means for Teams customers is anyone's guess.
As well as the banner announcement on their website, emails have slowly been going out to users too.
"Yep, I just got the email. I laughed. They must’ve gotten absolutely demolished by feedback to be backtracking so quickly, which I helped with," said politicalstuff on Reddit.
For anyone who made changes to their subscription thinking prices were rising, Canva is also offering support.
You can revert your plan or reach out to their support team for assistance.
Overall, this decision to maintain prices keeps Canva in the good books of its users.
Canva’s move is a win for its loyal community.
